For fans of the show Sex and the City, seeing Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon), Charlotte York Goldenblatt (Kristin Davis), and Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) enjoying life in New York City – while wearing gorgeous heels, are sort of an escape from their own routined life.
The show was explosive when it first aired in 1998 and ended in 2004. Even the first and second Sex and The City movies were hits when they came out in the cinemas in 2008 and 2010 respectively. It had been 20 years since the last season of Sex and The City aired its final episode on TV and now, fans would be able to catch the ladies again in a new reboot of the American comedy/drama called “And Just Like That”.
This time around though, it would only be the three girls instead of four – Kim Cattrall who played Samantha Jones in the original Sex and the City turned down the offer of joining the reboot – but be assured to find the rest of the ladies still enjoying their lives in New York City. It was confirmed that instead of re-living the fast-paced “crazy” lives that they went through in their 30s, they are now showcasing how and what issues women in their 50s are facing. So be prepared to see these best friends going through the same juggle of romantic affairs, personal escapades, and professional challenges in The Big Apple – with young adult children to boot!
Most of the characters from Sex and the City retained their roles, especially the partners of the ladies like Chris Noth (Mr. Big), David Eigenberg (Steve Brady) and Evan Handler (Harry Goldenblatt). Their good friends in the show Mario Cantone (Anthony Marentino) and Willie Garson (Stanford Blatch) also joined the cast. However, Willie Garson passed away on September 21st, 2021 due to pancreatic cancer, and no updates were made on what would happen to his character.
Other cast members that have been confirmed to join the show are Sara Ramirez, Nicole Ari Parker, Cree Cicchino, Karen Pittman, Alexa Swinton, Isaac Cole Powell, Sarita Choudury, Julie Halston, Brenda Vaccaro, and Ivan Hernandez.
I could not wait to see the 10-episode series that would come out in December 2021 in HBO Max. Thinking of the wardrobe that the costume designers would pull out for the casts is enough to make me squeal with excitement. I have always loved the clothes and shoes Carrie wore in Sex and the City. Who could forget some of the wild and wonderful assembles adorning Sarah Jessica Parker? And the variety of Jimmy Choos, Manolo Blahniks, and Christian Louboutins.
However, Patricia Field, the costume designer for Sex and the City will not be reviving her role for And Just Like That due to her busy schedule handling Emily In Paris. She did hand the huge responsibility over to her old friend, Molly Rogers so hopefully, we would be seeing some incredible dresses, suits and shoes again this time around. Are you guys and gals ready to walk the streets of New York again?
