Are you a person who loves binge-watching movies or shows on Netflix? Do you enjoy watching detective-related shows? If you answered yes to both questions, then you’ve come to the right place!

Here are 3 detective shows that you should watch on Netflix today:

(Disclaimer: These are just shows recommended based on my personal preference)

Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is an American sitcom revolving around a quirky detective named Jake Peralta, his stern superior, Captain Raymond Holt and their colleagues which all have very distinct personalities. Together, they solve crimes in Brooklyn and are located at the NYPD’s 99th Precinct.

However, the show isn’t just about the squad solving crimes all day. It also expresses witty comedy among the characters. So, if you’re looking for a show which is crime-related but also light-hearted, Brooklyn Nine-Nine would be perfect for you!

Brooklyn Nine-Nine consists of 8 seasons, with each season ranging from 13 to 22 episodes per season. There are 7 seasons available on Netflix, while Season 8 (which is the final season) is currently being aired on NBC.

My personal rating of the show: 9/10

Sherlock

Sherlock is a British crime show that circles around Sherlock Holmes, an extremely observant detective, who is pretty much a genius. His flatmate, Dr. Watson, a former army doctor, ends up solving crimes together with him.

If you have not watched Sherlock yet, make sure to start soon and join them on a journey filled with interesting and unusual cases!

There are 4 seasons in this show; each season consisting of only 3 episodes. However, each episode is around 1 hour 30 minutes on average.

Yep, it is pretty much the length of a movie and therefore, I would suggest for you to watch it during the weekend or whenever you have time on your hands because this isn’t a show that you can just binge-watch.

My personal rating of the show: 8.5/10

Lucifer

The Lord of Hell, Lucifer, decides to leave his throne and live in Los Angeles. He leads a lavish life in LA, starting up his very own nightclub and enjoying all the materialistic things on Earth.

But, when a murder takes place outside of his nightclub, Lucifer meets a detective named Chloe. He becomes intrigued with how things work on Earth and soon joins Chloe in her detective work.

So, what exactly happens when the Devil decides to stay on Earth? Will all hell break loose (quite literally)? Watch the show to find out!

There are currently 5 seasons available on Netflix, with around 13 – 26 episodes in each season. The 6th season is releasing on September 10th, 2021 on Netflix, which will also be the final season of the show.

My personal rating: 7.5/10

Final Thoughts

These are some of the detective-related shows that I’ve watched on Netflix. Do note that every show I’ve listed here has a mixture of genres, and is not purely crime-based. If you haven’t watched any of these shows yet, do give them a try and hopefully you will enjoy them just as much as I did!
